Steve Morrison of Mission to Promote Adoption in Korea (MPAK) Is Not Your Friend – The Comic

Steve Morrison of MPAK is all about portraying himself to be a friend of waiting adoptive parents, as well as single parents in Korea. Honestly, if he/MPAK has it his way, we’ll be talking about adoptee citizenship/deportation for years to come and, frankly, Korean women will continue to be marginalized. More on this later. In the meantime…

  1. What is incredibly, totally and infuriatingly frustrating about MPAK’s attitude is that is dividing the Korea adoption adoptive parent community even more than other faith-based initiatives have divided it. I am sick of being told I am “anti-adoption” because I do not choose to denounce Korea’s efforts to reform its intercountry adoption policies. I am angry that I have been told my attitude means I don’t love my kids.

I know I’m not the only adoptive parent of Korean kids who is reform-minded. We have been operating as individuals and in our local communities. Maybe we need to finally come together to form an alliance that can provide Korea with a different perspective. Clearly we’re not getting our message across the way we’re operating now – at least I know I’m not.
