In the spirit of Thanksgiving and in celebration of a short work week, I’d like to take the next few days to be thankful to/about the adoption community.
Today, I’m thankful for . . .
The adoptees voice has been at the forefront of a lot of changes this year. Some impressive accomplishments full of the adoptee voice include:
- Talking with policy makers about amending the Child Citizenship Act of 2001
- Stopping the deportation of Russell Green
- Parenting As Adoptees
- The Origin(s) Project
- Land of Gazillion Adoptees
The adoptee voice is loud, proud, and strong. Some work hard everyday to make sure our voice is heard, some listen and offer support, some hear it and cringe, but it is clear to the adoption community that decisions about adoption policy, practice, and support cannot be nade without our voice at the table. And, if you leave us out (eh-hem MPR), you’ll be sure to hear about it.
I am an adoptee, hear me roar (and watch me kick ass).
